May 2023 Election Results: Building BIPOC Power
The official results are in!
Oregonians across the state showed up for all our students across place, race, and party this election. We were proud to support leaders who are of and for our communities; leaders who will ensure that our stories are taught in schools, and not dismissed on permission slips. We elected leaders who will invest in and support our communities’ futures.
Throughout this election, we mitigated barriers on the campaign trail for candidates. We worked to meet BIPOC leaders where they are at in their life cycle of leadership to: equip them with tools for building transformational power and support them throughout the election.
By joining together and speaking up in this local election, we are making our schools and local communities places where each child belongs and can thrive, and helping to create a state where we respect and support each other across our differences. Join us in celebrating our communities’ wins and congratulating everyone who ran and participated in this election.
✅Over 90 BIPOC candidates ran for office this election.
✅Endorsed 28 BIPOC candidates this election.
✅We connected BIPOC candidates across the state to a variety of resources.
