Our Vision
We envision a racially just Oregon.
Our Mission
Oregon Futures Lab and our partners support leaders of color entering public office and governing effectively.
Our Values
Our values are at the center of all our work.
Community
We believe in the interdependence of individuals and communities. A community member cannot be free so long as their community is oppressed; a community cannot be free so long as any of its members is suffering.
Reflective Democracy
We believe in government by the people, for the people. We work for communities whose governing bodies don’t represent them. We fight for everyone in our community to be included in our public processes – to have the power to shape our futures.
Racial Justice
We believe that leading with race, across all issues, stands to bring about the most positive change for the most people. We believe that BIPOC are the experts on our own lives, and are therefore best positioned to offer policies and solutions that get at the roots of injustice.
Collective Liberation
We believe in Black liberation and Indigenous rights. We understand that Black and Brown people who are also queer/trans, women and femmes, and disabled people have been left out of historic movements for change. We center the leadership of our most marginalized community members because we know that our collective liberation depends on it.
