Boot-CAMPaign for Change

Calling all (future) campaign managers ๐Ÿ“ฃ We are teaming up with New Oregon Movement (NOM) to organize the 2024 Boot-CAMPaign for Change series: a progressive, BIPOC-centered campaign manager training school in Portland (with a stipend provided ๐Ÿ’ธ).

We know that our electoral system was designed to best equip those with privilege. This results in institutions and systems making decisions on behalf of entire communities of which none (or very little) are represented.

We also know that there are lots of talented folks in Oregon who are excited to work with and support BIPOC candidates. Our goal with Boot-CAMP is to combine the technical skills that are needed to run a campaign with a focus on prioritizing and addressing the experiences and needs of BIPOC communities.

Boot-CAMPaign for Change sessions will take place in-person in Portland on:

Thursday, June 6th from 6-9pm

Saturday, June 8th from 9am-4:30pm

Saturday, June 15th from 9am-4:30pm

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

When you leave the Boot-CAMPaign for Change school, you will:

  • Understand the expectations and impacts of a campaign manager

  • Know what it takes to lead a successful campaign that is aligned with progressive values

  • Have tools to build trusting relationships with your candidate, staff and partners

  • Understand how to play a key role in supporting a candidate of color

  • Know how to develop a comprehensive campaign plan

The ideal candidate:

  • Has progressive values, particularly around racial equity, intersectionality, progressive representation and integrity

  • Has some campaign experience. Boot-CAMPaign for Change is an advanced training school that covers what you need to run a successful candidate campaign. This series is geared toward campaign managers or aspiring campaign managers

  • Seeks to be an inclusive and compassionate leader

  • Is currently supporting or is looking to support a progressive BIPOC candidateโ€™s campaign

Completing the Application:

If you believe in the values of NOM and are passionate about the future of Oregon, please apply! Imposter syndrome is real and no one will ever meet 100% of the requirements.

Please use this form to apply. The Boot-CAMP application will close at 11:59pm on 5/15/24. We will review applicants over the following week and you can expect to hear back from us in late May. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to naomi@oregonfutureslab.org

Applicants who are selected to participate in Boot-CAMPaign for Change will receive a $300 honorarium to be able to fully participate in all three workshops. We expect participants to attend all three sessions in full.
